ghetto rental car

sometimes my life is very crazy and outside of the box. ok, always. here is a peak at my life.
i wanted to take my parents to watch a tapping of a tv show. we decided to rent a car and go watch "deal or no deal". i called my friend jessica and she tracked down a rental company for me. i went to pick up the car and it was hilarious. it was not a regular car rental. it was a guy who fixed up wrecked cars and then rented them out. the car barely got us to los angeles. it over heated once. it was spray painted. it was missing a hub cap and it had no shocks. it was scary. we made it there and back with no problems. then as the guy was taking me back to the hotel i began to talk to him about where he was from. he was from iran and he escaped during the revoulution. he used to be a governor and held high political positions. he had to sneak out because they were about to hang him. he was able to pay some people to get him out of court and get him to america. i was so interested in his story. i asked him before i got out of the car if he knew of any good places to eat. he said to call him and he would take us to a great place for iranian food. well, that sounded strange to call a total stranger to go out to eat. so we did. he picked us up and we ate the best food i have had in a while. we even had a belly dancer come to our table. (that was funny). we had a great time and had some great talks. he is muslem and i am christian of course and we got to talk about all of our faith and practices. i have to say it was exciting. but hey, thats the life we choose.

I haven't talked to you in awhile...stop being so busy. Its amazing the people you can meet if you just let yourself be open. I remember one time in Mexico I was having a hard time translating and a man who happened to know English came over and assisted me. He then took me and my friends to dinner telling about the culture and people of the area. We had a fantastic time. He was a blessing in disguise.

The Iranian family that was at our church in Groves escaped during the revolution too. It was a Grandmother, her son, his wife, and their two kids. The wife and kids got saved, the Grandmother goes to a Baptist church regularly (hasn't converted yet) but the dad doesn't attend. The oldest son Bahrad(16), has surrendered to ministry and has already started preaching. I was talking with the Grandmother once about the revolution in Iran and she gave me a video of what Iran was like before the revolution. It looked very "American" or "Western". Too bad that's not the case now.
