i dont know what to say about this
many of you may know that a movie about 9-11 is coming out this weekend titled "united 93". i was invited to the movie premier tonight. i dont know what to say about this movie. words to describe the feeling i had watching the movie are as follows: pain, disgust, hate, anger. mix these feelings together and that would be the emotion i feel after watching "united 93".
i do not know what to tell you. i had the intention of watching it and reporting back to you guys with a profound review of the movie. i dont have that for you. i dont know if you should watch it. i dont know if it is helpful. i dont know if it is worth it. i dont know if it is too soon. i just dont know. i do know that my night has been ruined.
however, it was interesting historically. i learned some things that i had never known about what happened that horrific day.
the movie comes out this weekend. should you go see it? i dont know. ask yourself if you want to relive a small part of september 11, 2001

hmm, I had no idea that Brock was that famous!
I too wondered about this movie. I'm not so sure I'll be going to see it. I'm also wondering why it's rated R. Well, personally I dont' want to relive a day of death. I like life, speaking life, living life. Well, if you have nothing else to do, tune in to the Astros game...its still going!
I'm not convinced that this movie should have been made. Being into film, I wouldn't have made it. Granted, I haven't seen it, but if I could put this flick into one word: unnecessary. To be honest, even though it was done with excellency I wouldn't have made Passion of the Christ either. In the same way, let's not make the tragic, let's not make the mysterious, mainstream.
i was truly effected by this film. everyone was that saw it last night.
we had a time afterward to discuss the film. it was emotional. and what i heard then was disturbing. we should pray for our protection. i also know that politicians cant fix this ongoing problem. we should pray for them as well
i have seen the documentary before, and i don“t think i will see the movie. i better see something happier. i dont like to pay for pain. mmm well, just when it have a message.
dont let a movie ruin you day. if you think you can do something, do it.
But be happy!
from Sara_ I believe these movies were made for a reason. Yes, they are tragic, but if you look at Passion of the Christ, hundreds of people came to see that what Jesus did was truly real, and that he suffered for our sins. SEPTEMBER eleventh was tragic, and a movie to remember it is horrible, but nonetheless, it's just a part of history, as is the holocaust, civil wars, and small murders that happened back then. I will not watch the movie of september eleventh for I have no reason to, i know what happened and I know why it happened. But some others should watch it, and if they do, they might realize again that it is our sins causing tragedy. Even though it wasn't our country or culture that caused this tragedy, those who performed the killings were our brothers, who are just like us, but have a different belief than we do. But Jesus died because of our sins, and so did all of those people. Why must we continue to do this? I do not know. Maybe this reminder will make us more willing to fix our faults, and try not to sin, and even pray for forgiveness.
where's llessica? i liked hearing what you have to say. from Sara
your opinions make sense to me
anonymous - Here's my real concern with Passion of the Christ: I'm afraid that it could convince. I'm not aware of any time that Jesus convinced someone to follow Him - He said, "Follow me." He gave the option and left the conclusion up to the listener.
I don't want someone to prove to me that Jesus is real - for one I don't need proof - second, He would be with out mystery. There is no worship without mystery - not with Jesus, not with anything.
Really these kinds of movies make me nervous. I know I could be making a wrong statement but I don't think Jesus would have made either of these movies. If one must be forced to remember then how genuine, how authentic, is that memory? If I had to be reminded of Christ how good would my relationship with him be?
I like the Passion, if for none other reason, for the fact that it informed some people who may have never known otherwise. most people nowadays get a very watered down version of Christ, and this showed it with such accuracy.
I read an article in "Time" about this movie today. I hadn't even heard of it before. see..the interesting thing is, every single one of the victims families wanted this movie made. they were devastated by what happened, but they had pride in what their families did in the face of absolute terror. the quote was something like "what a few brave men thought of in merely minutes of courage was able to annihilate the evil that wicked men planned for months." that intrigued me.
the actors who made the movie were talking about how surreal the experience was. they cried, screamed, threw up on themselves, etc to give the picture of sheer terror. but they knew at the end of the day, the make up came off and they were back to life. the real passenegers didn't have that luxury.
i think from what I read, this movie could serve to stir some pride in americans for what their peers did. but also, it could be totally devastating to relive this, as it said it contained some footage of the plane hitting the second tower. it's supposed to completely manipulate emotions, and I don't know how cool that is with a real tragedy as 9-11 was.
it's a book.
I feel like this is a neccesary evil! I think ALOT of american's are forgetting how awful 9/11 was for the "entire" United States, but even more so for the ones directly affected and involved!!! We are forgetting WHY we are in Iraq fighting for our freedom and the protection of this country at this very moment! As witnessed by the media, who makes our christian President out to be inhumane and heartless! I don't like war any more than the next person, but I absolutely believe that it is NECCESARY! If it takes us being a little uncomfortable or upset for a couple of hour's to remember what happened to all of us on 9/11 than I say it's worth it!
The same goes for The Passion! I think we, as christian's should all make a point of watching that movie EVERY Good Friday; so that what Christ did for us is alway's fresh in our mind's, as hard as it is to watch! LEST WE FORGET! I know it's a whole lot harder for me to sin when I have a fresh picture in my mind of Christ being whipped with the cat of nine tail's and hanging on the cross!
I also believe this movie may freshen up people's memorie's as to how we all felt on and after 9/11 when we all wanted to do whatever it took to make sure something like this never happened again in our country!
I WILL ABSOLUTELY GO AND SEE THIS MOVIE IN MEMORY OF ALL THAT THEY ON FLIGHT 93 SUFFERED ON 9/11, BUT MOST OF ALL FOR WHAT THEY FOUGHT FOR!!!!

I'm not wanting to sound sacastic, but just a thought. What if the producers/dir./actors said, "hey, instead of us spending a couple million on this film, instead of us asking Americans to spend certain millions, what if we gave this money to the families of 93?"
I live in a volunteer rich city, where people would give the shirts off their backs, would give up their cars to ride public transit spend many days a year "serving," like trash cleanup in their neighborhood. Here's what I've noticed though - they don't really do it for anyone else but themselves. Maybe hoping to recieve an award at the end of the year.
My point is, many times, in the name of rememberance, we only serve our selves. Sure, Mr. Gibson used his own money to make this film. To be honest I kind of feel like I would have been taken advantage of if I were to have lost someone in that crash. Like, my wife died and you're making profit of her story. Maybe I'm taking it to far?
see, I was thinking about that, too. like, in the article in Time they made a big deal about how a percentage of the profits was going to be donated to the 9-11 memorium fund. In fine print you see just how much. One percent. That's lame.
I would be alot more at ease with this movie if you didn't know that the makers are going to be rich off of a tragedy. Although the families agreed, they are still, in a way, seemingly being taken advantage of. (in my humble opinion.)
from Sara_ I respect your opinion, t.newb, of how you stated, "If i had to be reminded of Christ, how good would my relationship be with him." But Christ wants us to remember him, i mean, what is communion for? "Do this in remembrance of me" I do not think it is bad to be reminded of christ.
Now, I'm young and I have much to learn in life, but if I died in something tragic, I would want people to realize that what happened to us was because of peoples sins. I must say this again "BECAUSE OF PEOPLE'S SINS" all of ours, even mine. I am very ashamed of my sins. Very very very.
t.newb, i'm very sorry about your wife dieing. It must be hard.
Like i already said, I probably won't watch September 11th, cuz I already know what happened and why it happened.
I see this movie affects you very much t.newb, I feel terribly sorry about how you said they would be making a profit off of your wife's story. I understand.
But I agree of what you think amber about watching the passion of christ on Good Friday.
Oh, and September is like another history movie we might watch, at least we have the choice to go and watch it. Same goes with every movie.
OH GOSH. MY WIFE DID NOT DIE!! Read that again. Yikes. Sorry to be unclear.
wow. that got some feedback. you guys are passionate about what you believe and i like it. i dont agree with all of you but so what. thats why we live in america. we can have opinions, right. thanks for keeping it civil. you guys make me proud. i love hearing your thoughts. it makes me think. keep it up.
