galveston family time

today we walked on the beach with my family in galveston. we started our thanksgiving holiday a little early this year. it is good to spend time with the family. many people i know are not spending time with their families for the holidays. it makes me sad to see how many people cant or will not spend time with family. their are so many people who have had divorce or some other problem that keeps the family separated. i value my family. i will not take them for granted. what are your thoughts on family traditions and holiday times????

my family does have family traditions. We jus eat and hang out at home.

On thanksgiving Day, we all come to church and have a thanksgiving feast with all the bros and sisters. We bring lots of food and then play a game. Have u heard of it < Hot and Cold>

Well u hide something and someone tries to find it. But instead of saying "hot" when he/she is close to the object, we make turkey sounds. We all bugg out and have a ball

we don't have thanksgiving day.... we do nothing that day. Well, i think is because in Mexico we don't celebrate thanksgiving.... maybe.

And in christmas and new year. we just eat and that's it.
When i was little all the family get together. and we do shows. but now with the distances and the boyfriends and husbands who have other family is getting every time more difficult. (i mean with all the family, all my cousins, uncles etc etc...)

In this moment i don't have a united family. (i mean my brother sister and parents). maybe is for the age...

Well, I've always spent Thanksgiving and Christmas with my sister and her family, unless I've been living across the country. My Mom and her husband try to come, too, but the last few years they've been doing the "Route 66" thing, so sometimes they're too far away. But they call and send stuff.

During the times when I've not been able to be with my family, I try to organize a "Widows and Orphans" shindig, especially at Thanksgiving. There are indeed many people who cannot be with their families, and so we throw in together and have a big meal as a group. That can be fun, too! I did it last year, when the snow was too treacherous to try and drive to my sister's house. We had a great time.
