world record

today i set a world record. actually, i was with a group of escape artists from around the world having a convention meeting. we gathered to watch performances and learn. we took a photo while we all wore our strait jackets. there were 78 of us in the photo. the record was 48 until today. i know, so what. who cares, really? anyway, criss angel is here along with bill shirk. bill shirk is considered the worlds best escape artist. i hope to get inspired and learn something new. now let me go celebrate my earth shattering, ground breaking world record.

new orleans

today we drove thru new orleans on our way from mississippi. i was curious to see what it looked like 1 year after katrina. it was crazy to see. there were neighborhoods for miles that had no one living in them. there were abandoned cars and belongings everywhere. i even saw one building with a wall that had toppled and as i got closer, i realized someone was living inside. it had no windows or anything. its so sad to see. i watched one guy break into a building as i was sitting at a redlight. thats one crazy place

i cant believe it

this was a great week. it was tough but very good. we had to send two guys to the hospital. one rider from chaos on wheels punctured a 2 inch deep hole into his shoulder when he wrecked. also kevin, a freestyle moto guy crashed really hard. after going 70 feet thru the air he had trouble getting back on the motorcycle. he then hit a wall and got knocked out. he had a concusion but he is gonna be fine.

we had over 4000 people at the show on wednesday night. we had hundreds get saved. im exhausted but excited. God is very good to us. this week was all worth it

how did we pull it off?

the first 2 days of freedom experience(fx) was intense. we had so much going wrong but our crew made it happen. it really came down to the wire. we had so much work we had to do. we had even more problems that had to be solved. we have the best team in the world. i guess the only way to make our team better is to have about 6 more people full time. regardless of what was stacked against us our team pulled it off. scott may be the hardest working guy in the business. that boy ran around all day and didnt sit down or complain. our video guys were helping out the lighting guys. the bands were being flexible and helping out. it was just great to see. everyone believes in this so much. one more night. i hope we pack the place out.

God help the Dog

it has been a sad week for my friends in reality tv. we lost steve to a stingray and dog the bounty hunter was arrested. i am very concerned about dogs arrest. after being accompanyied by the mexican police, he picked up andrew luster and brought him back to the u.s. luster was convicted of 86 counts of rape. the problem is the mexican authorities then had dog chapman arrested. bounty hunting is illegal in mexico. even tho he was bringing a u.s. citizen back to the u.s., it didnt make a difference. i cant explain all the details in this blog, but i want to share my concern. dog and his team were off the hook they thought. and now 3 years later they were picked up by the u.s. marshalls to be taken to mexico to face trial for a minor misdeamenor. but they face up to 4 years. ok, here is my problem. i think the u.s. should stick up for someone in his position. he is not a real criminal. this whole thing is a joke. the u.s. authorities should work something out with mexico and make this go away. he was the only one who was able to find this criminal, this rapist. he made it happen for the fbi. there has to be something that can be done.. it seems a little funny that after 3 years the mexican authorities had him arrested. his legal council said that the offense was so small that they would never mess with it. why now, after 3 years? wierd huh?

it doesnt matter whos right or wrong really. they thing i am doing is praying for the chapmans. they need prayer. i cant imagine the pain the are going thru right now. we should pray for the chapman family. i have seen them do alot of good for people. i respect dog chapman alot. and now i am going to pray for Gods best in his life.

kirk cameron

tuesday night, i did a show with kirk cameron. he is a christian, and he is a speaker. he really has a heart for God and for people. i really repect him. he is a very nice and friendly guy. i have met him before a couple years ago at a show in virginia. his message is sound and he is being used by God. its cool to see how a tv star can be so into sharing the love of jesus like he is doing. thank God for kirk cameron.

i think he has a website, www.wayofthemaster.com

my bad

yesterday we had to fly out to texas. we had a brief stay over at our house in tennessee the night before. we had enough time to repack and sleep then leave. on our way out to the airport we stopped at scotts house and picked him up. it was there we realized that we were missing a suitcase. i had left it sitting on the tailgate and never put it inside the truck. we knew that it had fallen off of our pickup truck somewhere in the last 45 minutes. we didnt have time to go look for it because we had to catch the flight. i called alisha and got her out of bed and she traced our steps towards the airport. the good news is she found the suitcase. she rushed it to the airport and we checked it just in time. another unpredictable day in the life. but im not complaining, it keeps it exciting

unpredictable

if there is one thing i can predict, its that life on the road is unpredictable. i never know where i am going or whats going to happen when i get there. the shows are sometimes big and sometimes not. sometimes they are awesome and sometimes, well we wont talk about that right now. its been a long time since i have had a really bad situation to deal with at a show but you never know when it will happen. this week we didnt know where we were going. we had to drive the semi thru a mountainous region with steep and windy roads. on the way there we were getting low on diesel so we found the only place that had truck fuel. as soon as i drove up i got a bad feeling. i started to leave then i decided that it was worth the risk because i didnt know when i would find a truck stop. i got some fuel and was on my way. i never found another truck stop for a couple hundred miles. of course the fuel turned out to be bad. the truck barely ran as i crawled over the hills. long story short, we made it all the way there and back. one more reason that life on the road is unpredictable.

remember to pray for us as we travel. we are doing a long and hard tour right now. thanks

7 hours

i realized why i was so tired a little while ago. i just worked 7 hours without a break. we loaded in the show then set it up. then we performed then loaded out the equipment and into the truck. we worked 7 hours strait without a single break. friday morning before the big show i did a thing at truett-mconnell college. after it was over i tried to rest before the big show. im glad i rested. we are a little short handed right now so we are all working overtime..but God moved, and it was all worth it.. now i go to sleep and wake up and do it all over again.

hammer and nail

today i spoke at a college about the miracles of jesus. i decided to do a new trick today. i took a guy from the audience and brought him on stage. then i gave him a hammer and a 12 inch nail. i put the nail on the top of my foot and had him swing the hammer. the drove the nail all the way thru my foot and into the floor. then i lifted my foot and pulled the spike out. the crowd went nuts. this will not be something you will see me do anytime in the near future. it is one of many of the new routines that i am preparing for the new show. get ready

3 weeks

we left tuesday for a 3 week run. we will be in georgia, texas, indiana, mississippi and everywhere in between. getting ready to leave for that long is not easy. auny has been really streesed and overwhelmed. trying to get the long to do list done is an almost impossible task. we also had to get our truck worked on. we had alot of little problems with the truck and trailer. i think we got it all done though and we are ready for the road. the first day was long. the drive got longer and longer as we drove through back roads for over 2 hours once we exited the interstate. now its time to be used by God. pray for me as i speak to students this week at a college. pray that God uses us in a very powerful way. also pray for strength as we begin a long 3 weeks.

mentor

i have a mentor and i wouldnt trade it for the world. i am always encouraged when we meet. it always seems to be the right timing, and the right wisdom for my life. i am so blessed to have someone in my life that pours into me. i am amazed at how many ministers do not have a mentor. there is so much value to having someone in your life but it seems that it is very rare. when people are falling into traps and getting into trouble it should be a priority in every christians life. if you are a minister it should be in your life. you should set up a cycle of being mentored and then mentoring others. then they will continue the cycle. can you imagine the power of a 12th grade guy mentoring a 7th grade guy? or a 45 year old pastor mentoring a 26 year old youth pastor? what about a girl who is a freshman in college pouring her life into a 5th grade girl once a week? what would happen?

timbyrne.org

one of our key team members for our big outreach called freedom experience is a man known as tim byrne. he is one of the top freestyle skaters in the world. tim has an incredible passion for reaching people. i have not met many people who have a passion like tim. he helps us to reach people at freedom experience by drawing in kids who are interested in skating. whats funny is that he is so good that everyone loves to watch him skate. he gets on stage and takes up 8ft x 8ft of space and just works that skateboard. it is like break dancing on a skateboard. it is the most unusual thing ever. after getting peoples attention with doing miracles with that skateboard, he speaks a powerful message of jesus. here is a recent testimony that i came across from a 50 year old man who was saved after hearing tim present the gospel.

"...I talked shortly about my somewhat lacking faith. You prayed for me and now I believe I am saved. I am 50 years old and was brought up a Catholic and never heard much about being "born again", but now I firmly believe that I am. I have been able to pray to God every day like never before. Every day I thank Jesus for saving me and for sending you into my life. I also pray to God that you will never quit spreading His word, especially to the kids. Thanks again Tim and may God Bless You always."

check out tims new website. it is insane. he is featured on both livin it dvds, so check him out there. you should get your church to book him for an outreach event. it will be unique and effective. reach people that dont get into most things, they will get tim byrne

chocolate snob

i believe i have found the best chocolate on the planet. i have eaten chocolate from many places but the cocoa tree is the best. you have heard me talk about the cocoa tree for some time now. i am convinced now that it cant be beat. therefore i have become a chocolate snob. once a week, if i am home, i go to the cocoa tree and eat lots of chocolate. sometimes when i am on the road i will crave chocolate. so i will try some from a chocolate place. i am always disappointed. its true, i have become a chocolate snob. i only like the best

lebanese food

tonight auny and i had a night to ourselves. we went to a persian restaurant and ate lebanese food. it was so good. we had lamb kebabs and hummus and even some baklava. we also went to the mall and walked around and did nothing. it was nice. and now i think i am craving some more persian food. anyone up for it?

the illusionist

i just watched the new movie called "the illusionist". it may be the best movie i have seen this year. i was trying to figure out if the reason i liked it so much was because of my career but then the end of the movie came. it was amazing. i went with some friends and they all loved the movie. it will win awards. it has to. edward norton is brilliant. he actually learned the tricks that you see him perform. most of what you see is something edward himself performed without c.g.i. the movie is clean and safe to watch. the movie is very well written. it reminded me of "the sixth sense". i have been waiting for a year to see this movie but i didnt know what to expect. i was very impressed. go see it this weekend, you will not be disappointed

peaceful backyard

i have a house out in the country. it is very nice to be able to relax on the back porch and have nothing to worry about. i have had the chance to be at home some recently and i have enjoyed my back porch. everyday we see deer and turkey playing in the backyard. yesterday we were grilling burgers and we had some deer playing around in the yard. they were chasing each other around. it was kinda cool to see. i sure do like my peaceful backyard.

today, i have shows in mississippi. pray for them to be awesome.

thanks

today i went riding dirt bikes with my friend rick. before i left i realized i had no oil. rick was kind enough to pick some up for me. then we headed to the track. before we got too far i realized i had left my cash at home. rick said he would pay for the gate fee. then we got there and my bike wouldnt run right. i didnt bring my tools or an extra spark plug. i really felt unprepared at that point. after thinking i am about to pack up and go home, a man walked over and gave me a spark plug. he even put it on the bike for me with his tools. then it was time to ride. as we entered the gate area the guy that takes the money said that today he wanted me and rick to ride for free. wow. i was so not prepared today but there were nice people everywhere. it seemed that everytime i messed up someone was there to catch me. just wanted to say thanks to all the people who help people out in times of need.

winter gloves

it seems wierd to wake up and layer on two jackets and put on big winter gloves. its still summer. i never would consider doing this when i lived in louisiana but now that i live in tenessee it gets kinda chilly. ok i know this sounds a little odd. but we are having a cool spell and i am riding my motorcycle everywhere i go. at night it gets pretty cold going down the interstate at 70 mph. i just wanted to point that out. go grill out now

short handed

as we begin our fall tour we are going to be a little short handed. we are looking for a possible intern and another position to be filled. it is considered a ministry team that we have and we need someone to join the team. if you or someone you know is interested in being a part of a ministry that travels quite a bit and works long hours then send an email to info@brockgill.com. include a resume and/or the reason you would want to join the team. we are looking for someone who likes to have fun and be responsible. someone who can work hard and do the behind the scenes stuff that makes ministry happen. pray for God to bring the team together the way he wants it to be.

so long stephy

i am sad to announce that after a year of hard work and good times, stephy will be leaving our team. she is going on to bigger and better things. she has meant so much to us this past year. she has helped us out so much. when auny was out of commission, stephy filled in on stage. when i was too tired to move, stephy stayed up late to get the job done. she was a big part of everything we did in the last year. some of the best times of my life have been this past year. from protesting protesters to eating crab cakes to fireworks dramas. we have seen God move in some incredible ways also. we have had victories and struggles, good times and bad, she hung in there. even when my back was hurt last fall and i made everyone miserable, stephy took up the slack and rolled with it. stephy you will be missed. and oh yeah, gingham dog
