merry christmas

i was in the mall this week and the place was decked out in christmas decorations. did i miss something? i was actually in there looking at some halloween stuff and there were christmas trees in most of the stores i was in. so i started telling everyone merry christmas. some people were confused and some people joined right in on the celebraTION. call me old fashioned but i think christmas should be after halloween. actually i propose it should be in december. i will be sick of christmas in about 3 weeks. i love christmas, its a great holiday. its my favorite holiday but lets do it in december. am i crazy for thinking this? maybe if our country wasnt so greedy and profit hungry we wouldnt have to celebrate christmas for 4 months. im sure the root of this nonsense is money. what do ya think?

3 legged

today i had a 3 legged freak, i mean flight. that should be against the law. everyone knows that i dont like to fly. it is cruel and unusual punishment. in some countries the punishment for some crimes is flying. the long lines, rude workers, bad and overpriced food, no liquids. its a mess. today we flew from myrtle beach to billings montana. it took all day on three different airplanes. i guess it was shorter than driving though. im tired and i think i go to bed now. sorry i wasted your time

and time stood still

at the show this week there was a night when time stood still. i will explain. there was a woman who was there with 2 kids. she needed to leave the show early to take them home so they could get ready for school the next day. she planned to leave at 830pm so she kept her eye on her watch. during the middle of the show she checked her watch and it read 810pm. then realized the show was nearing the end. she thought that they had plenty of time before they needed to leave. at that point i gave an invitation for people to follow jesus. both kids surrendered their lives to jesus. a little while later they checked their watch again and it read 810pm. apparantly the watch stopped. if it hadnt of stopped then they would have left early and never heard the message. coincidence or...??

3 pointer at the buzzer

tuesday night at freedom experience was great. i did the bullet catch for over 2100 people. it was an amazing night. the crowd was so ready for me to attempt the bullet catch. they had been hearing about it everywhere. it was on the front page of the paper with the headline reading"speeding bullet". as i stood on stage i could feel the tension. everyone was holding their breath as i starred down the barrel of that gun. as we prepared to fire the gun we had people at the edge of their seats. the gun fired and i went down, and as i got up the crowd wents nuts. the were so excited. it kinda felt like a 3 pointer at the buzzer.
pray for a huge night tonight. we are expecting big things.

meet shannon

we have a new girl on the road with us. her name is shannon. she is a great help to us right now. we are very excited to have her on the road with us. she is from north carolina, she is tall with short brown hair. she likes monkeys and ice cream and doesnt have any extra limbs. she seems pretty normal other than the random screaming during meal time. i only notice it when she has sugar or protein or carbs. i am positive that she is a good fit for us as we travel this tour working long hours. she is very dependable except on weekends and holidays and days that have the letter "y" at the end. if you have met shannon already then you know she is nice and very trustworthy, just dont turn your back on her. she will steal the enamel off of your teeth. other than that she is great. so hey shannon welcome to the team.

the best letter ive ever received

Dear GroupOne Crew, Eleventy Seven, the Motocross team, Chaos on Wheels, King of Kings, Vertical Ministries group, sound/lighting/video gang, and all others who helped with the Hattiesburg, Mississippi Freedom Experience

First of all, thank you for making my first Freedom Experience a complete blast! All of you were such professionals and just so fun to be with! I fell in love with all of you.

I saw how incredibly hard all of you work to make this event happen—and also how hard Satan works to keep it from happening! I was worn out just watching everything you did. I knew it was very mentally and physically demanding, but I had to see a first-hand, behind-the-scenes view to truly know and appreciate the magnitude and complexity of it.

I loved spending quality time with you in the green room having dinner at 10 o’clock at night, after the show, knowing that you had early morning school assemblies the next day. I also saw the group who left at midnight following the last performance in order to make the long drive to the next venue.

One of my most outstanding memories was the precious gray-haired grandma walking as fast as her little legs would allow her to get a seat on the front row each night. I was unable to see, but she may have even made it to the mosh pit!!!

All of you have a God-given talent and it was so refreshing to see and hear you unashamedly give complete credit to the Lord. It was amazing to watch as you had over 4,000 people of all ages screaming, gasping, applauding, and mesmerized. Then it was even more astonishing to watch Brock bring the entire crowd to a total hush by performing the water coffin and the bullet catch. With the stage set, he was then able to present the gospel in his unique, anointed way—simple, yet profound. I loved the way he let them know that the Christian life puts them in the minority and that they may lose friends over it—and that many times they will have to stand alone. I then stood awestruck with the hundreds of people who chose to follow Jesus anyway. Powerful!

On our long drive back home, my sister and I both agreed that the lesson we learned from this event was not to “judge a book by its cover.” I had to ask God to forgive me for first seeing the wild hair and the tattoos instead of your genuine hearts and motives. He showed me very quickly that I was guilty of that. He then let me see first hand how the blue-haired, probably unchurched kids at the school assemblies immediately identified with you. He also allowed me to see them all three nights of the event. I saw the ones who looked “just like you” talking to you at the merchandise tables afterwards with total admiration and desire to be what you are. That is what FX is all about—reaching those who would probably not darken the doors of the church otherwise. I think my generation is guilty of wanting the kids to get cleaned up and then go to church. I think God’s way is, “tell them about Me, and I’ll do the cleaning.”

Thank you for treating my sister and me with such respect and acceptance. I also noticed how much respect you all had for Brock and Auny—and each other. The hotel manager voluntarily told me, not knowing who I was, how great your entire group had been. He said you were totally “different” from most groups who stay at his hotel. (I believe I recall Brock using the word “integrity” in conversations with you.)

Some things you were lacking: self promotion, jealousy, foul language, off-color jokes or remarks, complaints, idleness . . . .

In a nutshell, my sister and I both loved our little vacation with you. If you are ever in southwest Louisiana, please give me a call and I’ll treat you to some good Cajun cookin’.

Keep up the good work.

Love you all

Linda Gill (aka “Brock’s mom”)

speaking of rain, my parents live in south louisiana. they got 13 inches of rain yesterday. it rained more today another few inches. everything is flooded and roads are closed. they said it looks like a hurricane had come through. when it rains it pours

hit and run

auny and i were sitting at a redlight last night when we got hit from behind. we pulled over to talk about it with the other parties involved and, yep the car took off. some lady thought she could get away with causing a 3 car pile up, and she did. no one was hurt so it wasnt a big deal. oh well what do ya do. just a little hit and run. i guess i could get mad but it wouldnt help so i will make some jokes about it and get over it. what would you do?

ping pong surprise

at the kansas show saturday night i had a bit of a surprise. the most impressive thing i do and the most difficult thing is a thing called the ping pong balls. no one has ever been able to figure out where the ping pong balls go when i make them disappear until tonight. tonight i had a surprise. walmart now makes a new brand of ping pong balls and i realized on stage that they are much bigger. i couldnt get the balls in my mouth. i forced the third ball in my mouth and i think my jaw came out of socket. my routine was shot at this point. i had 2 balls in my mouth and my cheeks stretched out past my shoulders then i forced the third ball in about half way. i had no idea this would happen. the balls looked the same size as before but, big surprise.

now i go put ice on my swollen face.

haunted restaurant

today we pulled over for lunch as we were driving thru the midwest. we had a hard time finding a place to eat so we took a chance on this little place right off the interstate. it was in a creepy little hotel(maybe it was hotel california). the people in the place were scary. one man who worked there looked like he was straight out of an alfred hitchcock film. he was really pale white and hunched over. he moved really slow. there was also a lady working there whom we thought had a halloween costume on. she was dressed like a witch, maybe she was. the place was haunted im sure of it. we ate and ran. on our way to the door i heard a creepy sound and some screams. over my shoulder i briefly saw a ghost. ok i lied about the ghost. i think i ate at the adams family restaurant.

sorry i didnt post yesterday. we were driving all day. we slept at a truck stop therefore we had no wireless internet. my bad

give me chocolate or give me death

tonight we decided to have fun since it is our last night at home for a few days. we got about 15 friends and went to our favorite chocolate place the cocoa tree. we had so much fun. we laughed and got crazy. it was a crazy and interesting group. we have friends from all walks of life and from very different backgrounds but we all share a love for chocolate. we had a friend from california, and even a friend from england. one person was visiting from alabama. 4 people realized they were from the same part of florida. my friend robby was there, he is a pro moto rider. also my friend mark from audio adrenaline was there. we even ran into a person that we first met while we were in texas. it was cool to see all the different friends that came out to celebrate nothing other than chocolate. what a great day

pray for a great weekend. we have shows in kansas and tennessee. details after the show as usuall

pray for new york

i dont know if its terrorism or an accident but a plane just hit a building in new york. there are people trapped in the burning building. lets pray for the safety of all involved.

houston we have a problem

our website is down. i have no idea whats going on. www.brockgill.com is gone. lets pray for this site to go back up. we just did a huge mailout but it is based on the info that is found on the website. this is not good. in the mean time we will have to just hang in there.
people have asked me how to support our ministry. here is the best way, since our website is m.i.a.
you can make checks to vertical ministries, and send them to po box 160445 nashville tn. 37216

if that doesnt work then call the office at 615-258-4141

sorry about the website trouble. all i can say is pray it goes back up soon. it could be up by the time you read this. if so then let me know. then we can all go back to life as normal. until then i will not eat or drink or watch tv or use any pronouns in sentences. maybe im being a little too dramatic. nah

fx needs

freedom experience(fx) is the most effective outreach that i am a part of. i have never been more excited about outreach. God gave me the vision for this a few years ago. i have been amazed to see God bring it all together. we have had no budget to work with for the equipment we have had to provide. i have had to invest as much money as i can into it to make it all happen. we have had some people give money to help us purchase things along the way. we have seen the attendance at fx grow from 1000 people to over 6000. with more people coming to the shows we have had a need for more equipment to make the show happen. here are some current needs that you can help us pray for.

1)we are in desperate need for new video equipment. 3 screens and 3 projectors to start off.
2)we also need some more lighting and cables to power it.
3)and finally, we need a power distro. we need to be able to power up the lights without blowing breakers and things like that.

oh and one more thing, we need staff. pray for more staff and volunteers. you wouldnt believe the amount of work that goes into a full production 3 night outreach on this level

puppet master

if you have seen the latest dvd "hidden agenda" or have been to a live show then you are probably familiar with an illusion routine known as the puppet master. this is the illusion that i have been doing the longest. God gave me the idea in 1997. i began performing it in the summer of 1998. it was redone and perfected in 2000 and has been a signature effect ever since. it is one routine that i am very proud of. it is a picture of the spiritual world in a symbolic way. it represents the way we are slaves to sin and how satan pulls our strings like a puppet. the illusion ends with a girl disappearing, and it gets a gasp everytime. this illusion is a feature on this falls tour. after this fall is over we will take it out of the show. we are going to give it a break. we may bring it back at some point but for now it will take a holiday. if you want to see this effect then you will have to catch us this fall

church people

i have friends who are catholic and i have friends that are charismatic and friends who are everything in between. tonight we were talking and we realized that people are always talking about the things that make us different. we should focus on the things that make us the same. i dont claim a denomenational affiliation. i just claim faith in jesus. who cares about the differences. lets focus on jesus. do i sound idealistic and too simple? i hope so

ready to go

we usually get bored pretty quick. we have very fast paced, high adrenaline lives. when we get home we try to plan to go do something fun as soon as we can. today we drove home for 13 hours. as soon as we got home we left for a dinner party. we didnt even walk inside the house. we just got out of the truck and got into our pickup truck and left. glad we did, because we got dinner. and also we got to see our friends from the office as well as our pro skater friends from "king of kings".
we are always ready to go play

Please Pray for Brock

Brock is in California and flying to Texas to meet me this morning. Yesterday, he called me and was feeling really badly. He couldn't do anything, had a fever, and hurt all over. When he told me that he was too tired to eat and that he didn't have enough strength to walk across his hotel room to get some water, I knew what the problem was.

Back in April, I felt the worst I had ever felt in my life. The whole day was rough and I just could not explain it. I felt as if I was going to pass out or throw up all day. We discovered that I had clinical exhaustion. I say "clinical" because we throw the word "exhaustion" around too loosely. I didn't feel exhausted. I felt like I was going to die!

Please pray for Brock. He now has the very thing that I never want to experience again...clinical exhaustion. I feel so helpless because he's on the other side of the country. Please pray that he got enough sleep last night and can make it on the plane. I want him to come to me so that I can take care of him.

escape convention

i am in california attending a gathering of escape artists from around the world. its nice to be here and learn from some real pros. its a really small group, and everyone is really nice. i feel kinda outta place though. anyway, today i learned how to pick locks that are found on your front door at home. i also learned some techniques that would get some people in trouble with the po-po. when i get home i am going to unlock all my doors with my new found picking skills. i think it is about as fast as using a key. its kinda scary to be honest. i guess locks are for honest people
