wall street

i sometimes wonder if we realize how blessed we really are. we get scared to death when the stock market goes south because it may slow down our economy and therefore interupt our cushy lives. i like cushy, i like being comfortable, but i keep perspective. i have friends and aquaintences who have no idea what life is really about. in america we are so focused on making money and treating ourselves to the latest selfish endeavors. we love our $4 coffee and our suvs. we love our big screen tvs and big houses. we think that the end of the world is at our doorstep when we cant get a new video game machine. i guess what i am saying is this, God has a different plan for us than we think sometimes. he wants us to follow him and only him. we so quickly forget that. the truth is, the stock market doesnt really matter. maybe we should check our perspective

you are completely correct. sometimes all we want is the "top of the line" stuff or we think life is unfair when life isnt about those kinds of things...its about praising Him and living a life for Him.

i beat you pedro!

Um...while I agree with you in principle, Brock...the stock market is on direct correlation with the economy. I'm not talking about capitalism, or "wanting more". People lose jobs when the stock market goes south. I've been one of them.

It's not about the newest Blackberry, or the flat-screen TV. It's about keeping a roof over your head, clothes on your body, and food in your stomach. There are over 700,000 people every three months who are NEWLY homeless in this country. Mostly because over 80 percent of the population live paycheck to paycheck. You don't get one or two of those checks, and you're in trouble--unless you're fortunate enough to have been able to save a couple of months' nest egg.

Anyway, not to be argumentative, but I think that your take on the stock market is a little narrow. Love you lots, and I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree with it.
