fly delta..."we care"

in all fairness, i have had great experiences flying delta, but listen to this.

i was flying thru atlanta this weekend. after a 2 hour delay we ended up landing in atlanta in plenty of time to make my connection. we sat on the plane at the gate for almost an hour. as we sat there waiting for someone to let us off of the plane i realized that we would miss our flight if they didnt do something quick. i asked the flight attendant if they would call the gate and tell them to wait an extra 2 minutes so we could get on the next plane. her response was, "they dont care". i said, "they dont care if we all miss that flight?". her response again, "they(delta) dont care".
we did miss the connecting flight and had to go thru the mess of trying to figure out what to do next. its now 1045pm and we were very tired. after standing in line at customer service for another 30 minutes they rebooked me on a monday flight and gave me a free toothbrush. i was so tired and upset about the total lack of respect for human beings. i felt like no one cared. right about the time steam began to come off the top of my head i heard a bit of drama going on. i listened in and heard them telling a large family that they wouldnt be able to fly them to france until thursday. they were livid, understandably. i felt so bad for these people. i realized that people in line near me were going to miss a funeral, another was to miss a wedding. there were dozens of others who had their travel plans ruined.
after spending the night in atlanta, we finally made it home. i mentioned that i got a free toothbrush. it was in a little baggie along with a free t-shirt. the t-shirt said "we care".

WOW.

In retrospect, remember that if you held a plane up 3 minutes... It may hold up someone else's connecting flight, which holds up someone else's connecting flight, which causes mass world chaos of missing connection flights.

Airports suck. :(
