courtesy laughs

saturday night we went to see a comedy show. before the show i told shannon and auny that we might need to practice our courtesy laugh. i got the feeling that the show wasnt going to be very good as soon as we walked in. it was small and there was no chance of us leaving without the performers really noticing. i was prepared to fake the laughs for the entire show. we used the courtesy laughs up and even added some token applause.
have you ever had to spend time with someone who was trying to be funny, and you laugh to avoid an even more awkward situation? me too. i get dumb jokes all the time. people are just trying to be nice im sure but i can assure you, i have perfected the courtesy laugh. as for the comedy show, hahahahahahahaha.........

is very uncomfortable to be laughing without feeling it. but sometimes we have to.
i'm always funny, the people laugh with feeling..... i think so... or i've been living in a lie????

Yeah, there is probably nothing worse than detecting somone else's courtesy laugh. However if you are not the recipient, it's not near as bad.

without the courtesy laugh, the funniness in a situation is in vain.

Well, you guys are right. Sometimes you have to have a courtesy laugh ready for some people.
