moto-marathon
this weekend i raced motocross. i had fun as usual. here is the story.
i decided to race a new kind of race for me. it was called a "hare scramble". this is like a moto marathon. imagine racing for 2 hours. it is a race thru the woods, over the mountains, thru the creek, and anything else that gets in they way. the race is a very tight and technical kind of thing. much different than other races. it is so tight that my handle bars would barely even squeeze between the trees in some spots. so, i thought i would give it a try. i mean, i have won some races before, so i should do good here at the hare scramble. wow, did i under estimate this race. it was 3 laps with the lap being about 11 miles. it was very hot this weekend to make it for a very difficult day. about 300-400 riders started the race, many didnt even finish. when the flag waved i took off and got a not so good start. in the first turn i began to pass people very quickly as we got into a single file line for the narrow race track. i knew that i needed to pace myself because it would be a long and hard race much like a marathon. about half way thru the first lap i slowed down even more because i was very tired. i realized that it was going to be a long day for me. i had a pit stop at the end of lap one and told my pit guy that i needed more water. after a quick drink i took off for lap two. at this point i began to think that i would be happy to finish this race. after lap two lucas fueled the bike and i told him to pray for me to finish. i was so exhausted. i got off the bike for a second and was so dizzy i didnt think i was going to be able to ride. there was no way i was going to quit. i hit lap three with as much as i could give. at this point i was going pretty slow. there were guys all over the track. these guys had parked their bikes and were not going anywhere. i couldnt believe how many guys had dropped out or were just sitting there taking a break. i kept going and finally found the finish line.
i didnt even care about winning a trophy at this point. all i cared about was that i had finished. i have never put my body thru so much. it was the most incredible thing i have ever had to endure. it was 2:25, thats two hours and 25 minutes of pure focus and complete physical demand. i am very sore and recovering from the heat exhaustion now safely at my house. i am going to think long and hard before i do that again.

you may think that its easy to ride a dirt bike for that long. nothing could be farther from the truth. i use every muscle. it is maximum output. it really is like a marathon. crazy, but i did it.
im done
Go rest. You need it. I know how demanding it is to ride a bike for a long time.
Speaks well of you for your determination and never giving up!
Way to go!
Teresa
so did you win
Congratulations on finishing the race. I think it is great that you didn't give up! I have never raced dirt bikes, but I have heard stories! I am glad you didn't get hurt or pass out!
God Bless,
Britany

I didn't win. I thought I got 5th but later found out I didn't. I'm not sure what place I actually got. I really think I was out of my mind for. A lil while. All I cared was that I was alive.
You won knowing you didn't quit : )
