double dose

so i took the day off and decided to have some fun. actually it started last night. i went to see the funnest bestest band on earth, family force five. they were so good. they are funky and fun nonstop. their manager invited us out to a tv taping today. they did another concert today for us. my friends all came out to this tv studio and we rocked it. i tell ya, these guys know how to get crunk. if you like fun, creative, freak rock then go check out family force 5. they are sick. i got a chance to see them 2 days in a row. i got a double dose

bad news for my friend

i just got some bad news from my friend in georgia. my friend cec had his house burn down yesterday. they lost everything. whats worse is, his son in law died in the fire. i am so sad for my friend right now..

cec is the guy who is helping me right my book right now. he is a top selling author, he wrote a book that is big right now called "90 minutes in heaven" with don piper. i really like this guy. he is a man of God.

please pray for my friend and his family. his full name is cecil murphey. in the comments i will leave a list of needs that they have right now. maybe we as a blog community can help cec in this time of loss.

wall street

i sometimes wonder if we realize how blessed we really are. we get scared to death when the stock market goes south because it may slow down our economy and therefore interupt our cushy lives. i like cushy, i like being comfortable, but i keep perspective. i have friends and aquaintences who have no idea what life is really about. in america we are so focused on making money and treating ourselves to the latest selfish endeavors. we love our $4 coffee and our suvs. we love our big screen tvs and big houses. we think that the end of the world is at our doorstep when we cant get a new video game machine. i guess what i am saying is this, God has a different plan for us than we think sometimes. he wants us to follow him and only him. we so quickly forget that. the truth is, the stock market doesnt really matter. maybe we should check our perspective

no luggage....again

just flew back to nashville from texas. great flight but one problem, no luggage. that is the second time in the past couple weeks that they have lost my bags. whats wrong with these baggage handlers? many times they manage to break or lose the contents of my bags, and on occasion they loose them all together. oh well, i guess i dont really need a toothbrush or my shoes. i dont need any of my magic props or dvds. 2 weeks ago they managed to loose all of my cash that i left in my suitcase. its not their fault tho, we shouldnt have left it in a safe place. im amazed at how unprofessional the process is. according to (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16811248/) one in 150 passengers have mishandled bags. the number topped out in 2006 at nearly 4 million bags. if you try to call customer service then goodluck. call them now and you may get them on the phone before friday. its kinda funny to me to be honest. i dont get upset at it because i have come to expect it. how bout you guys? any airport drama?

pray for rob

my friend rob lewis is a freestyle moto rider. ya know the kind that jumps 75 feet thru the air on his dirt bike and does tricks before landing. he was doing a big show last night and had a big wreck. he hit the wall in the arena and was taken to the hospital. he has a concusion and a lacerated liver. he needs our prayers for sure. join me as i pray for my friend rob

texas fajitas

when i am in texas i have to have the fajitas. i have my places that i go. first i start off at a place called pappacitas. that place is bueno(which means good in spanish). it is very tex-mex, which is what i prefer over true authentic. i love to order grande(which means large in spanish) beef fajitas and go to work. i stuff myself everytime i go. also the salsa is the best ever. my new found place is called lupe tortilla. the falitas that they serve are excellente, which means excellent is spanish. i cant come to texas without going and getting fajitas. this trip went something like this. i left the aeropuerto (which means airport in spanish) and went straight to pappacitas for fajitas. then i went home. i woke up this morning and ate breakfast then waited around for lunch where i ate more fajitas. then for dinner i went to lupe tortilla for more fajitas. they were muy good( which means, very good in spanish). i think that texas is numero uno for fajitas(which means number one in spanish). i love eating in tejas(which means texas in spanish).

ashley judd

i was in starbucks the other day when ashley judd came in and got a drink. my friend (stephanie) made her a special drink, soy milk with a chai tea bag and no sweetener. i thought it sounded interesting so i asked for an ashley judd. they brought it out and i liked it. a few days later i was in another starbucks telling my other friend (her name is also stephanie) about how ashley judd wanted a special drink and they made her something that they thought she would like. as i was telling this, another employee came over and told us a story about how she had helped ashley judd find a special drink that she may like. it was the same story that i had just told to stephanie(the girl at the new starbucks... thats confusing). anyway, i ordered an ashley judd and they knew what i meant. they knew because they had made it for her as they were dicussing what she might like. its hard to explain. the point is, it was funny. so here is the last part of the story. i was sitting in starbucks working yesterday and i hear, "i have an ashley judd for brock" . i laughed and went to the counter and got my free drink. stephanie was there and saw me sitting there and sent over a drink. she knew what i liked and it is now officially called the "ashley judd".


so, here is what we should do. lets all go to starbucks and order an ashley judd. they will be like " huh?". tell them its a chai tea bag steeped in soy milk with no sweetener or syrup. lets start a starbucks phenomenon. after a while it will get around and people will know to order it. and will know to make it. and all the cool kids will know where it came from.

you are on the air

so i called a friend tonight but he didnt answer. actually someone used my phone to call him. he didnt answer and he didnt recognize the number so he called back an hour later to ask who it was that had called. i answered " you are on the air" he was stunned. he said that he was returning a missed call. i said that if he could guess who had called him that he would win. i sounded like a radio guy as i told him that it was a radio contest. i then pretended that i was a radio dj and i went to a commercial. i played music and everything. i was actually driving down the interstate but he thought it was a full on radio contest that he had become a part of. he bit it. he swallowed it hook, line and, sinker. he started guessing people that he knew and naming names. he thought he was live on the radio. it was so funny. i ended it by telling him that time was out. i then went to commercial and told him that he had missed his chance. he wanted to know how much money he had lost out on. i said he missed $250. he was so disappointed. it was so great. i never told him that it was a joke.

im sure you have all heard by now that britney has lost her hair. actually she shaved it all bald. i guess she needed the attention. if you ask me i think she has lost her mind. she has everything that she wants, but still not really happy. there is a lesson to be learned. it seems that most people cant handle that kind of fame. it ruins them. think about elvis or michael jackson. they couldnt handle the fame. britney, the biggest pop star in the world has apparently popped. she is reportedly in rehab now. which means nothing. it seems that anytime you make a mess, go to rehab and everything is ok. thats another post for another time. back to britney. i am sad for her. something must be really wrong for her to shave her head bald. i am going to pray for her. she is still a person when you see past the plastic world she lives in.

today is the day. group one crew's new cd comes out today!!

i am so excited about this band. they are so amazing. if you havent heard them yet then you are missing out. there is one song on the record that just blows me away. every time i hear it i feel overwhelmed in my spirit. there is just something about that song. after you get the cd and have a chance to listen to it, let me know what songs you like the most. i havent been this excited about a band in a long time. this is the band that was with us on freedom experience tour. they will be with us again this whole fall. its gonna be awesome.

grilling in the snow

today i grilled out at a friends house. he was having a party for all of the race guys and friends and others who are into the racing industry. i have no idea how many people were there. we had $600 worth of meat to grill. we had steaks, chicken, lamb, pork, and salmon to name a few. i hit the grill for 4 hours strait. i had a blast outside grilling in the snow. i cooked all of the meat and everyone ate til they were stuffed. i have to say the racks of lamb were the best.

we ate and watched some dirt bike racing. it was a celebration of our friend kevin johnson and team faith winning first place for the weekend and third for the season. one more time, congrats to team faiths kevin johnson for the winning season.

oh, and get this, after winning all weekend kevin told me that the best part of the year was last night right before the race started. he said that a guy came up to him to talk about his faith. he knew God was trying to show him a sign. the guy knew that it was time for him to surrender his life to jesus. the guy commited to follow jesus right there in front of 40 people in the pits. thats what it is all about.

hot hearts

we did a conference in texas called hot hearts. it went really well. i was with a band named justin coffield band. they were so good. i really like those guys. the shows went smooth on friday and saturday.

as soon as we were done we headed to dinner then to the airport for a flight back to nashville. as soon as we got off the plane we had someone waiting for us and we took off to the arenacross. we were dropped off at the door and ran inside to watch the race. my friend kevin johnson won 1st place! ! !

it was a great weekend

race buddies

tonight i hung out with my race buddies. they are in town for the big race. thats right, the national ama arenacross championship is this weekend in nashville. all the big boys are in town racing. kevin johnson is a rider that does freedom experience with us. remember the one who was jumping his dirt bike and crashed out with a concussion in mississippi? he happens to be the third ranked motocrosser in the national arenacross series right now. you can actually watch him race this sunday afternoon on speed channel. if you missed freedom experience this fall then you can watch a clip of kevin jump his bike by watching the video at www.freedomexperience.com. if you live anywhere near nashville then come out and watch the big race. who knows, maybe i will go out there and show those boys how its done... yeah right.

i found out that wednesday was valentines day. so here is what happened.

auny made breakfast. then i made lunch. i made her favorite, my own creation called rosemary shrimp and potatoes. we watched a movie at home in the afternoon and then headed for dinner. we ate at our favorite thai place. after dinner with our friends we all headed over to the cocoa tree for chocolate. ater 6 pounds of chocolate we caught a movie. we saw "music and lyrics". it was a good one. it was funny and it had a happy ending.

living prayed up

today i was fasting so i could put some serious focus on praying about some big things that are going down right now. as i was going thru the day i had a word for my friend stephanie. we ran into each other on ichat. i shared with her what God was saying and it happened to be the very thing that she needed to hear. she was going thru something that was a bit overwhelming and God used that to help her thru it. it was awesome to be a part of.

one thing i have been thinking about this past weekend is that we dont need to get prayed up before a certain event. we should live prayed up. we should live in prayer.


auny and i are having a hard time in the finance area right now. we have had a ton of unexpected expenses and things come up. we are stretched as tight as we can get right now. we are trusting God to get us thru as we stick to a tight budget. as we were on the way home tonight we blew a gasket in our transmission in our truck. i guess we need to keep praying

pray for missions

just got word from some friends of ours who are missionaries in an undisclosed location. not sure the exact country but it is in eastern asia. here is the deal. they have been there for 7 years. they have been underground missionaries. they have plans to live there for the rest of their lives but some bad news. they were told to leave the country within 10 days. they had their visas revoked. they have no idea what to do. lets pray. pray for kathy and her husband to hear God and for the situation to be exactly what God wants. God can change anything. time to pray for our friends and missionaries

grammy thoughts

i dont usually watch the awards shows. this year i was invited to a grammy party. it wasnt about the grammys as much as it was about hanging out with friends. nothing about the show changed my life. i thought it was overall bland. yep, i said it. i thought it was kinda boring. i dont think that some of the winners deserved it but who cares what i think. i dont know anything about music. they didnt ask me to vote. i would have picked different winners for the most part. i did think that carrie underwood did a pretty good job with her segment. she can sing, no doubt about it. overall, i realize that i dont care about the awards that much. what do you guys think???

celebrity day

living where i live i see celebrities from time to time. usually i dont think much about it. today i saw my moms favorite athlete. i was sitting in a persian restaurant eating lunch with an old friend and in came someone that i recognized. he was about 4 foot 2 inches tall. he didnt have any hair. he had a big smile. he is an ice skater... it was scott hamilton. he met his wife there for lunch. he was a nice guy. i dont know anything about ice skating so i didnt have much to say. so i just talked about how great the food was.
after lunch i had a meeting with a business partner at the marriot hotel. as we were talking, in came another famous face. it was john stossel. i like this guy. he is cool. i have watched him since i was a kid. it was cool to see him face to face. who will i see tomorrow??

congrats to the colts. i wasnt sure that they would win the superbowl but i thought they had a great chance. i actually had it narrowed down to just 2 teams. the colts was one team and the bears was the other. ok, im being ridiculous.

i made it to my superbowl party late. i met a friend for dinner first. the interesting thing was that most of the great restaurants that are usually busy looked like they were closed. we were the only ones in wolfgang pucks. we watched the workers crowd around a little tv near the bar. it was wild. i am so intrigued by how powerful a game is. its the one time of the year that america stops and watches the same thing. they stand there in awe. it seems to be the most influential time of the year. companies spend millions to try to advertise to all of the willing viewers. think about it. its the only show in the whole year that people dont bother to tivo. people are watching it live. they see every commercial. they cant fast forward thru it. people just watch. its a powerful phenomenon. i dont wanna talk bad about the superbowl. i think it may even be a thing that helps our country in a weird sort of way. it brings a certain sense of unity. the more i think about it the more i remember the the empty streets and empty restaurants during the superbowl time slot. the more i think about it the more powerful i believe that it is. the influence sports has on us as a culture is substantial.

ok. i dont really know who to cheer for so i will just cheer for the bulls, or the pirates, or maybe the nets. today is the day that all of america stops whatever they are doing to watch tv. the superbowl is the most watched television event of the year. i have already had a chance to see some of the commercials that will air tonight. the advertisement is big bucks. i am not much into football. i realize that many people just shut off their computers when i said that. sorry, i dont like all of the hype. its gotten too commercial and too overblown. i can handle it for 1 game per year i guess. i may have to move to mexico after this blog post. ive heard that if you dont love football you are not american. so here is my plan. i will go to a superbowl party and have fun with it. i have no idea who is playing but i am pulling for the dolphins. isnt that a football team?

lost luggage

its hard to do a show without my gear. i almost had to do that today. when we landed in shreveport we had no luggage. it didnt make it due to a tight connection. we werent sure if it would show up so we went to plan b. we have plenty of material that we can do even if we have no props. but we needed certain things for tonights show. the luggage showed up before the show started. we had to rush the set up. we were relieved that we got everything. its scary to not have what you need. it all worked out. the show went great. we had a good night. the airline managed to loose the luggage but they found it. i have no idea what they did with it in the mean time. it looks like they went thru all of the stuff and threw it around and tried to repack it. the things that wouldnt fit they just kept i guess. i guess thats flying.

bossier city show

i am doing shows this weekend in my home state. thats right, i am going to louisiana. one thing for sure is that i know i will get some good food. i will be doing an event with a band called downhere. they are really good. im excited about the whole weekend. if you are anywhere near north west la. then come out to the show. for everyone else, just pray that it goes really well. i will give you an update on the show friday night or saturday. it will be good to be in my home state. i have many friends and even some family driving from all over to see the show. hey, if you are related to me then you get to sit on the front row for free. so tell the people at the door that you are my cousin and you might get special treatment.. ha

duck tail

my girl is so funny. here is why.

i am reading this book called "the long tail". its a great book by the way. auny always seems to get things mixed up. she says things wrong. for the past 2 weeks she has called the book duck tail, or duck tales, or something with a tail. i think its so cute how she messes it up so i dont correct her. yesterday she saw the book on the table and realized that it was a different name. she was so shocked. she had been telling everyone about the book that i had been reading. it was soo funny. she does that sort of thing all the time. sometimes i correct her and she doesnt believe me. sometimes its just better to let her be wrong and try to hold in the laugh. its so cute. i like this girl. i think i will keep her
