nightvision festival

we are here in western colorado doing a festival right now. headlining is mercy me, kirk franklin, leeland, and superchik. there are about 15000 people supposed to be here. it is always funny doing festivals because you never know what it is going to be like. we are on stage in the afternoon in the middle of the blazing sun today and yesterday. as i was doing the glass walk yesterday i took off my shoes and walked onto the front of the stage and ouch. the stage floor was black plastic coated material. therefore it is very very hot. i scorched the bottom of my feet, again. i no like. i was fine tho. i did the routine and found a spot to put on my shoes and walked away.

here is another story. first of all, sound guys are sometimes great and sometimes they are not. and sometimes they are great for a band but everything else throws them off. i asked them to unlock the power button on my microphone so i could manually turn it on and off. they didnt like that. they wanted it to be on at all times so they could be in control. sometime between soundcheck and showtime they switched it back to "always on mode" without me knowing about it. as i was being introduced by the director of the event i put on my mic and got ready to go on stage. during the introduction she said, "he isnt going to pull a rabbit out of a hat". at that moment one of the tech guys from backstage said "no rabbits?". i responded to him saying," i guess you are not getting your moneys worth". and yep, it came thru the speakers. i was so mad at the sound guys at that point that i couldnt laugh. but after the show when i calmed down i realized how funny that was. she was on stage saying this and she heard me say that she wasnt getting her moneys worth. she was stunned. she stopped and looked back at me and paused. then continued to introduce me. it was crazy. maybe next time the soundguys will listen to me.

i have another show in an hour so we will see what happens today. maybe they will get there moneys worth today
