expelled movie gets even more controversial

EXPELLED Producers to Yoko Ono: Let It Be

(Dallas, TX) - A new front has been opened in the culture wars. Ben Stein's EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed stunned detractors by opening as the nation's #10 movie last weekend. Out for less than one week, it has already become one of the top 25 documentaries of all time.

Opponents of the film have attacked everyone and everything in it. They have attacked the producers, the star, the music, and film itself. They have even attacked those who have seen it. Now they want to change the Constitution.

Yoko Ono and others have now filed lawsuits challenging the film's use and critique of John Lennon's song Imagine. One of the suits seeks to ban free speech through preliminary injunctive relief which essentially means that they are trying to expel EXPELLED as it is now being shown in theaters.

"If you really listen to the lyrics of Imagine then you realize that it represents everything that the Neo-Darwinists want. 'Imagine there's no Heaven...No hell below us...Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too...' That's exactly what the Darwinist establishment wants to do: get rid of religion. And that's what we point out when we play less than 15 seconds of the song and show some of the lyrics on screen," said Walt Ruloff Executive Producer and CEO of Premise Media.

Executive Producer and Chairman of Premise Media Logan Craft explained, "The fair use doctrine is a well established principle that gives the public the right to freely use portions of copyrighted materials for the purposes of commentary and criticism. While some may not like what we have to say or how we say it, we have the free speech right to do so - just as other political and social commentators have been doing for years."

Premise did not pursue a license for the song and had no obligation to do so. Unbiased viewers of the film will see that the Imagine clip was used as part of a social commentary in the exercise of free speech. The brief clip - consisting of a mere 10 words - was used to contrast the messages in the documentary and was not used as an endorsement of EXPELLED.

But the irony of this lawsuit was not lost on the film's star Ben Stein, "So Yoko Ono is suing over the brief Constitutionally protected use of a song that wants us to 'Imagine no possessions'? Maybe instead of wasting everyone's time trying to silence a documentary she should give the song to the world for free? After all, 'imagine all the people sharing all the world...You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the World can live as one.'"

freedom experience in wichita

last night we had 2000 people crammed in the place. there was no seats available. 150 people couldnt get in. 235 people chose to follow christ.

keep praying for one more night

notes from the compassion dinner

tonight we went to an artist appreciation dinner for compassion international. the speaker was tony neeves. here is a couple of things he said. im quoting him from memory here

"third world people press their faces against the windows of our lives because of technology, internet, tv etc. and they feel as if they have no hope. it is because they are seeing soap operas and game shows on tv and see how we live. they cant afford a bowl of rice. they realize they have nothing and have no hope.

also, churches in western world are far more introverted than third world churches. this must change.

and, third world churches are growing fast in some areas not because of a great pastor or sermons but they are loving people and meeting needs. then the community sees the love and want what they have."

it was much more effective when tony spoke but that was the idea in a nutshell.

i wss inspired and motivated to focus. i want to make my life as much like jesus as possible.

the question is this, are we living new testament faith or 21st century western faith?

i dont want the standard faith that is found at the bookstore or in the pews of most american churches, i want what jesus showed his disciples...

triathalon

i am training now for my first triathalon. as you may know i started running last summer. i wanted to be in better shape so i just took off. my plan was to run a half marathon but i was booked on the day we were to run. also, i hurt my foot and that really slowed me down. i decided to run less and add bicycling for my weekly workouts. i am already a good swimmer so i thought why not a triathalon. my first one will be on may 26, memorial day. it is in nashville, so it should be fun. i am hoping i will find someone to run it with me. i am new at this for sure. we will see how it goes. yesterday i rode 10 miles and ran 2 miles. it was tough. anybody wanna come to nashville and run this with me???

the miracles show begins

last night we did our first miracles show. we are so excited about this show. it went great. usually the first show is tough and sometimes sloppy. last nights show was so smooth. we could feel the prayers as people were praying for us. here is a little of what people saw last night at the first ever, "miracles show".

i began the show with a ball of fire. i did a new version of water to wine. i showed the audience what people would have seen 2000 years ago. the highlight of the night was when i created a new special effect i call, "the storm". we created a storm and then well, the rest is a surprise for when you see it for yourself. i spoke about the miracles of jesus and talked about the theories of how people think he did his miracles. it was an eye opening night for many who attended.

after the show i had a lady tell me that she was shown that there is something special about jesus. it was a reminder of who her savior really was. that was the best compliment i could receive. i got a chance to do a show that gives huge glory to God.

thanks for all of the prayers. we have a few more coming up. i will let ya know how it all goes

pray for miracles

ok. its finally here. we have been working on this for over 2 years. tonight we will introduce "the miracles show". our new show is finally about to be seen. all of our hard work is done and we will see what God will do. i am not worried about it but i have an urgency to pray for it all. i have a new crew working with us to make it all happen. we have all new equipment and all new material. its a ton to handle. i do know that God gave me this show and i know he will use it in a huge way. i sometimes get ideas that are good. sometimes i get ideas that are great. and sometimes, i get ideas that are straight from the throne of heaven. this show is going to make a huge impact on the church. we are praying that this will open peoples eyes to the life of jesus. we have realized that many people who are believers do not really know much about jesus or his miracles. pray with us that this new show will be historic. i am so excited about what is going to happen tonight.

magic show in franklin tn

i rarely get to see a magic show. i have to go to las vegas if i want to see a good show. however i did get a chance to see a show here in franklin tn last night. as soon as i got off the airplane we hurried over to a small theater and watched bj harris. he is a christian illusionist. he has been touring all over the country for the past few years doing shows in some of the places that i have been. i have never seen his show til last night. i thought it was great. he had a great likable personality and had a very entertaining repertoire. most of the time when i see a christian entertainer i cringe. i usually have to put up with a cheesy second rate version of someone else show. last night was refreshing to see an original show with an original personality. i enjoyed the show and i believe you will too. he is great for adults or church wide audiences. check him out at www.bjharris.com

alcatraz

We toured alcatraz today. Its much more than a retired prison. Its a place rich with history. We heard stories about the escape attempts and the life behind bars. We also heard about the life on the island outside of the bars. The prison gaurds lived there and raised families on that rock. Kids would ride a boat to the city for school each morning.
We also learned about the indians who moved there after the prison closed. They began a movement to get back what the goverment had taken from native americans. The quote that stuck out for me was this, "those who live silent and don't cause trouble will not make history". Profound. That statement will stick with me. It makes me wonder how we as believers live. Are we silent in our prayers? Our community? Our schools? At home? Are we living with the flow? Are we blending in with the world? Maybe there will come a time to rock the boat. What will we do? Will we make history?

san francisco

So far I love san francisco. This city is one of my favorite cities in america. We spent some time today in napa valley. Then we went to berkley and visited a chocolate factory. That was amazing. Then we ran around in downtown san francisco. It reminds me a lot on downtown denver, another really rad city. We visited 7 chocolate shops today. They all gave us sample of things. Therefore we are stuffed full of high quality chocolate. I think I am high. I'm tired now but have stories and pictures coming soon.

university of california in davis

we received our luggage today, no problem. we didnt have to pull out the lost luggage show. im not sure it mattered tho. the show tonight was so amazing. we had a blast. it was a packed house. college students are the best crowds because they always get my humor. i loved doing this show. i cant believe it went so well. we had many things stacked against us but we overcame it all. in addition to a great show we also had 8 kids sponsored for compassion international. what a night!

lost luggage show

A few years ago I decided to create a new show. The idea was to be able to do an entire show with nothing. I wanted to be able to walk on stage without any props of my own and entertain people with a bangin top notch performance. I thought,"what if I have everthing stolen", would I be able to go on stage the same day? When I began flying to shows a feared that the airline would lose my baggage and I would show up to a place without any material. Therefore I created "the lost luggage show". I first debuted the show in california a few years ago just to see if it would work. I had the event host go to the store and pick up a few things before I got there. He brought it all on stage in a paper bag for me to use. I had some rope and lightbulbs, deck of cards, and some spoons. I then used things from the audience to create a show that would be memorable. I walked on stage with nothing of my own and did a show. It seemed more powerful in some ways because it was all their stuff being used on stage. The magic was happening to them thru their belongings.

I did the show a few times after that just because some people wanted to see it. I always kept it in my back pocket in case I really needed it.

In in california today. My luggage didn't make it here. The show will go on with or without my luggage. Ladies and gentlemen, "the lost luggage show" will begin in a few hours.

50% chance of rain

sometimes i hear the weatherman give a percentage of a chance for rain. i think that this concept is kind of a joke. one reason is, it is never right. i saw on tv recently that we are no closer to predicting hurricanes now than we were decades ago. we can predict how many we will have but not much else. even that has been a miss in my opinion. i am ok with someone not being able to predict the weather. it seems impossible to predict. i just dont get the amount of trust we put into it. we are always looking at the weather as if it really will predict rain or snow. the weather man has a tough job, no doubt. i just think it is funny for one to get paid to stand there and tell me that there is a 50% chance of rain. heck i can do that. everyday i give it a 505 chance of rain. unless its raining, then i give it 100%.

it has been raining here all week. i gave up on trying to follow the weather. about the only time the forecast has been right is when it is a few hours out. the 10 day forecast is a joke. try watching the 10 day forecast and write down the predictions. it changes everyday, and is never right. it seems pointless doesnt it. now if you want to know if it is gonna rain just call your friends in the next city and ask them. or call me, i will give it a 50% chance.

the miracles show is about to begin

i am very excited about our new show. we are introducing it this month for the first time. we have been working on this for over 2 years and finally we are ready to begin. the material is ready for the stage after some much needed rehearsal this week. we begin in arkansas on april 16. then we go to baltimore, then finish it up in memphis. everyone needs to come see this show. it is the most compelling show i have ever developed. it is very theatrical and unique. it is all about the miracles of jesus. we are recreating versions of miracles but eventually proving that jesus couldnt have been a magician. i have never been more excited about a show. God showed me that people will have their eyes opened to jesus during this presentation. i am excited to see this happen. this is gonna be huge.

please pray for us as we finish up the preparations for it. we are needing to buy a new trailer to transport all of our gear for this show as well as a few other things. it has proven to be a very costly show to put together. pray that God will provide for all that we need to make this happen.

we are beginning to book for next year right now. if you want to have this show in your city then email us now at info@brockgill.com

this is gonna be great. finally, the miracles show is about to begin

Expelled is making a difference already

Missouri Becomes Third State to Introduce
Academic Freedom Legislation on Teaching of Evolution

Following on the heels of Florida and Louisiana, Missouri legislators have now filed an academic freedom act bill, and a companion bill to protect scientists and researchers, along with educators.

Legislators in Louisiana and Missouri have introduced academic freedom bills that would ensure the freedom of teachers to help students understand, analyze, critique, and review in an objective manner the scientific strengths and scientific weaknesses of theories of biological and chemical evolution. Florida legislators introduced a similar bill recently which passed through its first committee hearing on a 4-1 vote.
In Louisiana, Sen. Ben Nevers introduced SB 561, and in Missouri Rep. Wayne Cooper has introduced HB 2554. Both bills would protect teachers’ academic freedom to teach scientific information that supports or challenges biological and chemical evolution, but expressly do not protect the teaching of religion.

Thursday morning, Expelled star Ben Stein will be at a press conference in Jefferson City, MO. to throw his support behind the efforts. One state was a breakthrough, two states was great, but three states clearly indicates a growing trend. I know other states have considered such bills in the past, so it will be interesting to see if more states step forward on this issue this year. Read more about the bills here.

just a little attack

i have been rehearsing the new show this week. let me just tell ya, it is very exciting. i am thrilled about what is happening. however, the devil dont like it. no he dont. i have been attacked by the enemy quite a bit lately. i will save you all the stories but if you read here daily you know about some of it.
this week i began to break out with hives. today was the worst of it. i have huge red spots that are raised up off of my skin. about 70% of my body was covered tonight. i began to pray and ask others to pray. after an hour or so i began to get better. i am laying in bed now. i dont plan to leave until i am totally better. i think it is just an attack from satan. he is trying to distract me and end me. we will win. we will win. keep praying for me as always for 3 things. we always pray for power, protection, and provision. i need all three right now. this is just an attack

rehearsal

We are spending all of our available time rehearsong our new show. We have been working on the ideas for a long time and we are finally seeing them come to life. We are on a stage right now bringing those ideas to life. It is not easy but it is coming together. Pray that everything gets accomplished and we have the show done.
